Application Area:       immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy

Ease of Use:              ⭐⭐⭐⭐
After Sales Service:    ⭐⭐
Value for Money:        ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Average rating:           4.3

Comments: Very useful as nuclear marker in well-preserved tissue sections and in cell cultures. Not suitable in tissue sections pre-treated with formic acid (as those assessed in human prion diseases to avoid ""infectivity"" of PrPSC)

Comments: We used DRAQ5 for labeling our bacteria of interest for live imaging the bug during its intracellular life inside host cells. The excitation and emission spectra are sufficiently different compared other fluorescent compunds allowing it to be used in conjunction with other fluorescent dyes. We are currently exploring the possibility of employing DRAQ5 in fixed cell fluorescence imaging.

Manufacturer's response: Thank you Anirban! Yes, DRAQ5 will also work for fixed cell fluorescence microscopy. You can use it prior to fixation, but more usually it is used AFTER fixation of the sample. We also have a new convenience alternative - DRAQfx FIX & GO - which has been specifically designed for the latter use and may exhibit less cytoplasmic background, though typically this is extremely low.
