Comments: DRAQ5 was used to visualize nuclei in live HeLa cells using confocal fluorescence microscope LSM 510. This product is very stable and convenient to use. The protocol involving dilution and staining is very simple and easy to follow. The dye is not toxic to HeLa cells and bio-safe. The dye did not interfered with subsequent downstream biochemical analysis e.g. western blot and protein band detection by LI-COR.  DRAQ5 uses far red wavelength, it does not involve the risks associated with UV light as associated with some other nuclear staining dyes in market. Also it was advantageous to us since nuclei visualization was the most essential part of our experiments and DRAQ5 imaging was compatible with our LSM 510.

Comments: We used DRAQ5 as nuclear staining in Flow Cytometry and ImageStream analysis to track the subcellular localization of different proteins. It works well with different detectors and offers a nice alternative to DAPI, leaving UV fluorophores available for other markers. 

This product is also very convenient in tissue immunofluorescence as a cellular marker (nuclei). It allows easy characterization of immune infiltrates in diverse tissues with better and more consistent signal than DAPI.

Comments: We used DRAQ5 staining for the validation of FSC/SSC dot plot based identification of rat leukocytes from lysed whole blood sample. Comments: After assay optimization, this product worked quite well for imaging host cells by microscopy during bacterial infection. The product has a long shelf life, provided consistent results, and was not that expensive. The only reason I gave 4 starts for the After Sales Care is because I had no direct interaction with them, but I think our lab tech found the initial instructions with the package confusing. Overall, it is a great product for a specific assay.

Comments: The product Draq5 is a ready-to-use aqueous formulation really easy to use (simple incubation and washes) and it gives us a good reproducibility between experiment. 
It has a good stability after storage.
Draq5 is a stable fluorescent Live-Cell Permeant DNA Dye which allow us to normalize the fluorescence signal between wells in an in Cell Western Blotting (Odyssey). We followed protein expression (Fluorescence 1) in bone marrow derived macrophages after different cell culture conditions and Draq5 signals (Fluorescence 2) provided us a good linearity for normalization of protein signals well-to-well (ration Florescence1/Fluorescence2).

Comments:                 We have used CyGEL to immobilize Drosophila pupae for live imaging using a confocal microscope. Embedding of samples in glass bottom dishes is carried out using a fluorescence stereomicroscope. We find CyGEL more convenient than LMP agarose because it saves the hassle to melt agarose and have a heating block or water bath nearby to keep agarose liquefied. The only utensil required is a small container with ice to keep CyGEL in its liquid form. Toxicity was not an issue since samples survived 3D time-lapse imaging for five days (see http://rsos.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/3/2/150517). Overall, we are very satisfied with this product.

Con is price is slightly higher than competitor products used previously, but Draq7 is still my go to marker for cell death

Comments: We achieved reproducible results in a high quality. DRAQ5 was really easy to use. We needed small amounts (1:1000) to make nuclei visible during immunofluorescence analysis. An Incubation for 10 minutes with 1:1000 DRAQ5 in Medium was enough to stain nuclei and it wasn’t indispensable to change/discard medium for microscopy.

Comments: DRAQ-5 is really easy to use for visualization of nuclei during immunofluorescence analysis. For simple samples (cells in monolayers) it is great. However, for samples with many layers it does not penetrate all layers equally. For that reason, such "difficult" samples are not reproductive in 100%.
